Sisters. Strangers. Survivors.

More than twenty years ago, Claire and Lydia’s teenaged sister Julia vanished without a trace. The two women have not spoken since, and now their lives could not be more different. Claire is the glamorous trophy wife of an Atlanta millionaire. Lydia, a single mother, dates an ex-con and struggles to make ends meet. But neither has recovered from the horror and heartbreak of their shared loss—a devastating wound that's cruelly ripped open when Claire's husband is killed.

The disappearance of a teenage girl and the murder of a middle-aged man, almost a quarter-century apart: what could connect them? Forming a wary truce, the surviving sisters look to the past to find the truth, unearthing the secrets that destroyed their family all those years ago . . . and uncovering the possibility of redemption, and revenge, where they least expect it.

Powerful, poignant, and utterly gripping, packed with indelible characters and unforgettable twists, Pretty Girls is a masterful novel from one of the finest writers working today.

The book is terribly written. The plot is unbelievable. The characters are one dimensional. Don't waste your time!

A friend from Tampa, FL recommended I read this novel. I am so happy I did ! It kept me addicted and interested from beginning to end ! The characters were clear and easy to understand . I like the feeling where you think there would be some crazy twist but there's not but it's still crazy ! Loved it!

I found this story to be initially compelling -- but as it continued, it digressed into a depressing, predictable storyline in which the depraved creature truly was as evil as initially believed. So the surprise was that there was no surprise. The evil that seemed so incredulous was actually that evil. It doesn't seem that a story like this, due to its predictably, would be all that difficult to write. I kept hoping for a twist that would drop my jaw -- but it never came:(!

This book was just wow!!! Each page kept me on the edge of my seat, I couldn't read fast enough. I had no idea who was the bad guy and who wasn't, I got to the point that I trusted no one. Great read.

  • Over the top unrealistic - not worth the read

The sample of this book is entertaining and exciting and I have to admit it hooked me. I wish I hadn't wasted my time. The villain is so unrealistic that he might as well been supernatural. The torture descriptions too graphic, unnecessary and don't add anything to the over the top plot line. I almost didn't bother finishing but I hate giving up. The reason I gave two stars instead of one is because it was somewhat entertaining in the very beginning but ultimately I was unhappy with 90% of the story.

So well written that half the time I was reading I was scared. The emotions of each character really make you stop & think & fell what it might have been like to be them. Excellent story & kept me reading way past my bed time. Can't wait for the next book.
